How will Wellen help my osteoporosis or osteopenia?

Exercise is one of the most effective ways to build and maintain bone throughout the lifespan. Wellen's customized exercise program provides a safe and effective fitness program that tailors weight-bearing, resistance, posture and balance exercises to your current fitness level. With a fitness routine curated just for you, you can help improve your bone density, prevent further bone loss, increase strength, and reduce the risk of falls and fractures. While Wellen is designed specifically for women with osteoporosis in mind, it is not the only way to build and maintain bone. Staying active with daily weight-bearing activities such as walking, carrying small grocery bags, going up and down stairs and even dancing, is the best complement to any exercise program.

Can I do Wellen if I do not have osteoporosis?

Absolutely! While our workouts are specifically designed to improve outcomes for those with osteoporosis, our programs include a range of strength, resistance, balance, and posture exercises that will benefit anyone who is trying to increase strength and prevent falls.

What can I expect from Wellen’s personalized workouts?

Wellen creates personalized fitness programs that are safe for people with osteopenia and osteoporosis and designed to help you meet your health and wellness goals. Informed by your strength capabilities and fitness goals, our physical therapists will create a tailored workout program with strength, balance, posture and flexibility exercises. Our workouts are specifically designed for women over 50, with a focus on bone health. Our expert health and medical advisors work with us to ensure that we are applying the latest clinical guidelines and scientific research so that we can best serve your needs.

What equipment do I need?

Our exercise programs are personalized, meaning we only incorporate exercises that include the workout equipment you have.

Our workouts require a mat for floor exercises and a chair for some balance and seated posture exercises. Shoes are optional and can be used if desired during specific exercises. Depending on the exercise equipment you have, resistance bands, resistance band loops, free weights, a step or stairs, exercise balls and stretching straps may also be incorporated into your program. You will be prompted to select which equipment you have prior to your first workout.
