Doorway Pec Stretch

Equipment
None

Purpose

The doorway pec stretch opens up the chest by stretching the pec muscles. This stretch can help reduce forward, rounded shoulders and hunched back postures that can develop over time. Lengthening the pec muscles allows for improved shoulder and neck mobility.

Set up

Stand in an open doorway. Place your forearms on either side of the door frame at shoulder height or slightly lower.

Movement

Lean your trunk and chest forward through the doorway until you feel a stretch in the front of your chest and shoulders. As you hold this stretch, try to keep your shoulder blades away from your ears.

Tips

  • This stretch should feel deep and gentle, but not painful.
  • You can try adjusting the height of your arms to get a slightly different stretch.
